I built Freewriter because I could not find a writing app that worked the way my brain needed it to. Over several incarnations, the app became stranger, sharper, and more useful: a writing game, a drafting machine, and a place where the only job is to keep the words moving.

Freewriter Game and Freewriter Pro save your writing locally in your browser, not in the cloud. This keeps your work private, but it also means you are responsible for backing it up.
- There are no save buttons; Freewriter autosaves as you write.
- Your documents are stored on the same computer and browser you used to create them.
- Clearing cookies, site data, or browser storage can delete your projects.
- Back up important work daily by exporting it and storing it somewhere safe.
