Dear Akubra, I love your products. I got my first Akubra back in year six while living on a farm. I wanted to fit in with the other kids whose parents owned the property my dad managed. At first, I felt deeply uncomfortable wearing it, which I cleverly solved by wearing it less. Growth. These days I own an Akubra Central West Slopes & Plains in camel, and I genuinely adore it. The problem is I am no longer a farmer. I am well and truly a townie, and wearing it to the local shops makes me feel faintly fraudulent, like I am about to be asked which paddock I run cattle on. As a result, it only comes out for farmer’s markets or weddings held on actual farms, which feels like the appropriate ethical compromise. Your hats are exceptional quality, and that is what makes this next part hurt a little. Because the traditional Akubra makes me self conscious in town, I was wondering whether you would consider releasing a line of Akubra branded felt caps. I am far more comfortable in a cap, but I would love the quiet esteem of wearing Akubra on my head without looking like I am cosplaying rural competence. It would suit those of us who still respect the bush, just from a safe, paved distance. Thank you for your time, and I sincerely hope your company and brand are still standing long after society collapses.
